The Governor of Benue State, Dr. Samuel Ortom appeared on Arise Television’s morning show yesterday where he spoke about his failed senatorial bid, his decision post-elections, and his plans, post the scheduled handover slated for May 29th.
Recall that, Ortom lost his senatorial bid to his former aide, Titus Zam of the All Progressive Congress (APC) at the February 25th polls.
Ortom, at some point in the interview, spoke using a Nigerian Pidgin English with the phrase “Market no good” in reference to his failed political bid, which signifies futility in a chase.
He also hinted that he would go back to his farming career once he handed over to the incoming Alia.
In his words: “The market for me is not good. This time around, the market is not good but I will be here till May 29 when I will hand over by the grace of God. I will find something else to do. I may go back to my farm as far as I am concerned.”
On the post-election issues and stand of the G-5 governors, Ortom said: “I and others were able to achieve the desire of our members, the integrity group. Because the G5 came out as a result of the fallout of the PDP primary election and party convention in 2022. Some of us believe that there should be a power shift.”
Reacting to the brouhaha in the PDP against him and some members of the party, touching on anti-party affiliations, Ortom said, Iyorchia Ayu, the national chairman of the PDP should be sent straight away to the disciplinary committee as he has lost touch with his sense of direction.
