In a hasty attempt to defend Senator Abba Moro, his media aide, Emmanuel Eche’Ofun John, published a rejoinder to my article, “Fall of a Political Giant: Embattled Senator Abba Moro’s Descent into Infamy. Instead of addressing the core issues of his deceptive practices in Otukpo-Oju road construction and the moribund Edikwu-Ankpali electrification project, the rejoinder resorts to deflections and name-calling.
This further exposes Senator Moro’s reliance on emotional blackmail and hollow rhetoric to distract from his inability to deliver sustainable development in Benue South.

The Otukpo-Oju road project has become a recurring campaign tool to deceive the people of Benue South. For years, promises of construction and rehabilitation have been made only to secure votes during elections. Shortly after elections, the promises are abandoned, leaving the road in a deplorable state.
The recent flag-off of the project, conveniently timed as the 2027 elections approach, raises serious questions about Senator Moro’s intentions. Is this another political stunt to pacify voters temporarily, only to abandon the project once their support has been secured? History suggests this is the case. Despite being a senator for nearly eight years, Moro has not delivered on this critical infrastructure.
The rejoinder’s claim that the project is captured in the 2024 budget and is “alive” does little to inspire confidence. Constituents are rightfully skeptical, given Moro’s track record of flagging off projects that either collapse shortly after commissioning or are abandoned altogether. The Otukpo-Oju road must not follow the same pattern of deceit and neglect, yet the senator’s silence on a credible timeline or execution plan fuels fears of another betrayal.
The Edikwu-Ankpali Electrification Project: A Stark Example of Failure
The Edikwu-Ankpali electrification project, commissioned with much fanfare on March 12, 2022, stands as a stark example of Moro’s failure to deliver quality infrastructure. While the rejoinder claims the project was executed, it conveniently ignores the fact that the electrification collapsed within two weeks of commissioning and has remained non-functional for over two years.
Emotional Blackmail and Deflection
Instead of addressing this critical failure, the rejoinder deflects, accusing me of alleging non-execution and praising the senator for “bringing light” to the community. However, what is the value of a project that collapses almost immediately and is left abandoned? This substandard approach undermines the very essence of development and frustrates the aspirations of the community.
A Call for Transparency and Accountability
If Moro cannot ensure the sustainability of his projects, how can he credibly perform oversight on other federal projects in his senatorial district? The senator’s failure to revisit and fix the Edikwu-Ankpali electrification is not just an indictment of his leadership but also a betrayal of the trust placed in him by the people.
In the absence of tangible achievements, Senator Moro’s office has resorted to emotional blackmail and baseless accusations. The rejoinder’s claim that I am “sponsored by angry politicians” to criticize the senator is a classic tactic to deflect attention from the issues. This approach does not answer the legitimate concerns raised by constituents; rather, it seeks to silence dissent and intimidate critics.
Public officeholders are accountable to the people, and scrutiny comes with the territory. Senator Moro’s media team must understand that questioning his record is not an act of sabotage but a call for transparency and improved governance. By dismissing criticism as politically motivated, the senator alienates himself further from the people he claims to serve.
Conclusion
Senator Moro’s inability to deliver sustainable projects also casts doubt on his capacity to perform oversight—a critical aspect of his legislative duties. If a project under his direct supervision, such as the Edikwu-Ankpali electrification, is executed with such glaring deficiencies, what moral authority does he has to oversee other projects in Benue South?
This failure compromises not only his effectiveness as a senator but also the broader development of his constituency. Constituents are left to wonder whether Moro’s compromised oversight reflects a deliberate abdication of responsibility or an inability to challenge substandard work due to his own failures.
The rejoinder from Senator Abba Moro’s media team is an exercise in deflection and distraction. It fails to address the substantive issues raised about his record—deceptive practices surrounding the Otukpo-Oju road, the collapse of the Edikwu-Ankpali electrification, and his overall ineffectiveness as a legislator.
Rather than confronting these failures, the senator’s team has chosen to engage in emotional blackmail and name-calling, reducing the Senate Minority Leader’s office to a platform for petty propaganda. This approach not only undermines the dignity”
