In a step to support Benue students facing financial hardship, Rt. Hon. Evang. David Ogewu has announced a N5 million scholarship fund for indigent students in the Oju/Obi Federal Constituency.
The initiative, which is the second edition of the Rt. Hon. David Ogewu FCAI Scholarship Scheme is targeted at students in tertiary institutions who are struggling to afford tertiary education.
According to a statement signed by Michael Ella, Special Assistant on Student Affairs, application forms for the scholarship will be made available free of charge, along with details on eligibility criteria.
Commitment to Education
Hon. Ogewu, who serves as Deputy Chairman of the House Committee on Army, first launched the scholarship scheme in March/April 2024 as part of his efforts to ease the financial burden on students. The move fulfills a promise he made in September 2023 during a visit to the National Union of Igede Students (NUIS), Benue State University, Makurdi chapter.

The lawmaker emphasized his commitment to the welfare of students in his constituency, stating that education remains a priority in his development agenda.
Benue State students who might be qualified are advised to prepare for the application process as the scholarship forms will soon be released. Further details on the selection process will also be provided in due time.
The announcement has been met with optimism from students and community members, who see it as a crucial step toward supporting education in the region.
