As a result of Iyorchia Ayu, the previous national chairman of the party, being suspended, the State Working Committee (SWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Benue has suspended its representatives in the Igyorov Council Ward.
The suspension is detailed in a statement that was signed in Makurdi by 12 people, including PDP Acting Chairman Isaac Mffo.
The SWC states that the ward executive committee members have been placed on administrative leave for a month while steps are taken to reestablish the party’s sanity, peace, and law and order.
It stated that the SWC would manage the party’s business for the duration of the period and that the decision was in the best interests of the party.
Insisting that the measure was necessary to restore sanity to the party in the ward, it further stated that they would no longer hold the offices they held before their suspension.
On March 26, the PDP chapter in Mr. Ayu’s Igyorov Ward of the Gboko Local Government Area of Benue State announced his “suspension.”
The party’s chairman, Kashi Philip, was represented by Vangeryina Dooyum, the Igyorov Ward Secretary, who stated that Mr. Ayu had been expelled due to his anti-party behavior during the most recent general elections in Nigeria.
