MAKURDI, Benue State- Ngodoo Development Initiative (NDI), a Makurdi-based non-governmental organisation, in partnership with Hub17 Innovation Space, has concluded its 2024 GirlTech program.
The three-day training workshop, held at Hub17 Innovation Centre, empowered 48 girls with skills in graphics design, video editing, creative writing, leadership, and more.
According to Rachel Tyona, NDI’s Executive Director, “GirlTech 3.0 is not just a training program but a movement to inspire and empower girls to become leaders in their fields. By providing these girls with the skills they need, we are paving the way for them to make significant contributions to their communities and the economy.”
Participants Achile Zainab and Sani Mohammed expressed enthusiasm and gratitude to the organisers. “GirlTech 3.0 has opened our eyes to the endless opportunities in technology,” they said.
At the closing ceremony, technology expert Mr. Solomon Yateghtegh lauded the initiative and pledged his support.
Special Adviser to the Governor of Benue State on Agriculture, Ms. Ochanya Okoh, encouraged participants via video call to develop a growth mindset and overlook stereotypes about the girl-child.
