ITCHES TO SCRATCH: Does Senator Abba Moro’s Shabby Projects Explain His View of Igede as an Ethnic Group

I checked in 2022 and can report that N50 million was pegged for the grading of the road connecting Obusa-Ainu with Ogori-Uwokwu with the “Building of Oru Bridge” part of the project description.

Shabby constructed Oru Bridge

As a journalist, part of my work is to analyse issues, especially the frequency with which certain things happen, those involved and the urgency with which things happen around me, including scrutinising senator Abba Moro, the senator representing the Benue South senatorial district.

Socialists from the Igede extraction of the Benue South senatorial district have recently paid more attention to development issues in their domain and are gradually getting more interested in how certain individuals represent their interests in various tiers of the government.

An image of a shabby Zonal Intervention Project, “Construction of Oru bridge” in Oju II state constituency nominated by Senator Patrick Abba Moro, in 2020, surfaced online recently, and a lot of Igede socialists expressed core shame.

In 2022, Abba Moro media boys perched on the “Igede Facebook Community” and painted it with “Abba Moro is constructing Obusa-Ogori road” because he (his contracted ally) went there with a suffocating bulldozer, no, RATdozzers.

Much of that jamborees and beaming happiness in the faces of the residents went dead when the work could not go beyond the grading, and the Oru bridge wasn’t constructed; it was more like aggravating hardship because the road became worse after that hullabaloo.

The attached image on this post is the bridge that was constructed just over a year ago. that’s the quality of work Abba Moro is doing in the Oju/Obi federal constituency- a part of his district.

This is not enough to measure his sentiment and his disdain for the igede people, let us dig further.

History will mark me safe that I am fair when I say that the Igede people supported Comrade Abba Moro to their very last breath, beginning from his first tenure. below is how Abba Moro is paying back.

To flag off his campaign, his very first campaign rally in 2018, Igede nation lost vibrant, heavyweight sons to an auto crash while going for his rally. About eight (8) of these men, I mean vibrant and politically, socially, financially, and maritally successful igede sons lost their lives because they were going to his rally.

As I write, It’s been over five (5) years, and many families that these men left behind abruptly because they supported him have been neglected. .nothing tangible to raise even one person to help the remaining families have been done. He would rather “USE” their children for political gains.

It is not his obligation to pay for the unfortunate natural incident, but the humanity in him should have pricked his conscience to establish these families.

In Odiapa Ito, Abba was supposed to construct the Odiapa bridge and construct the few-kilometre road from Obarike Ito to the bridge. guess what he did?

He brought men who were cooking bitumen with firewood, splashing on the road and pouring gravel the youth had to gather gravel out of the road later because it was destroying their tyres and causing mayhem.

That was not all
He hasn’t constructed the bridge till now.

That is the bridge that connects villages like Igwe to the Obarike market, which is a decent market for the local people. Abba Moro REFUSED to do a quality job.

Come to Ainu-Uchuo; he nominated the construction of a about 10km road from Ochwuo-Okpoma-Ogonari road and N50 million Nigeria Naira was placed on it.

He did just one kilometre and ran away.

These projects are Zonal Intervention Projects that the federal government trusted him to deliver to his zone, what has he done?

This has made many people question his sentiment about the Igede Nation. Does Abba moro care for anyone bearing Igede’s name, or is he just playing politics of goodwill to earn support from Igede?

Does Abba Moro envision tangible development in Igede, the second largest ethnic group in the Benue Zone C, where he represents as a senator?

Does his shabby project implementation speak of his idealogy about Igede? That the Igede does not deserve anything good????

These are questions Igede people are asking, and we must demand answers from the Senator.
