Security Guard Jailed for Nine Months Over Theft in Plateau

A 21-year-old security guard, Collins Ibrahim, has been sentenced to Nine months in a correctional facility in Plateau State on Monday, November 18, 2024, for stealing the sum of  N42,300.

According to The Magistrate, Shawomi Bokkos, who tried and convicted the accused after he pleaded guilty to the charges brought against him said that the convict was ordered to make restitution of the N45,000 stolen to the complainant, or otherwise would spend an additional six months in the correctional facility.

While  delivering the judgment, the convict was sentenced to three months in jail, with an option of N10,000 fine 

While speaking, the Prosecutor, Insp Ijuptil Thiawur, told the court that the case was reported on Aug.16 at the “A” Division Police station by Enoch Mangchin, the complainant.

According to Prosecutor Inspector Ijuptil Thiawur, Ibrahim had fraudulently taken Mangchin’s phone and manipulated its banking application to transfer money from his account which violates the Plateau State Penal Code Law.
