The Organized Labour, Nasarawa state chapter,has threatened to embark on an indefinite strike from on the 1st December 2024 over implementation of the approved minimum wage.
This is revealed in a bulletin released on the 28th November 2024 by the Organized Labour and signed by the Bulletin Committee.
The bulletin noted that the subcommittee which was constituted during the first meeting of Minimum Wage Negotiation Committee on the 11th November 2024 under the Chairmanship of the Deputy Governor of Nasarawa state,Dr Emmanuel A. Akabe has since completed it’s task and submitted the template for the implementation of the minimum wage to the main Committee but the government has failed to execute it.

While confirming the bulletin on phone, the secretary of the Organized Labour, Nasarawa state chapter,Comr. Ahmed Mohammed Naibi said the strike is necessary because the government is attempting to use their intelligence.
His words,” The released bulletin is from the Organized Labour of Nasarawa state. The ultimatum is lasting till on the 30th November 2024 and the strike commences on the 1st of December 2024.

Responding to whether the Organized Labour has exhausted all the necessary options of negotiation,Comr. Naibi has this this to say,
“It will interest you to know that we were on negotiation when this happened. A committee was constituted under the Chairmanship of the Deputy Governor of Nasarawa State and we sat on two occasions.
“The sub- technical committee that was saddled with the responsibility of coming up with a template that will serve as a salary guild for the implementation of the approved minimum wage has since completed and submitted their report.
“ The Chairman of the main Committee,the Deputy Governor has received the report which he said they were going to study alongside his principal,the executive governor of Nasarawa State.

“We were supposed to meet on Tuesday and nobody called us for the meeting only to hear that the Deputy Governor has travelled out of the country without notifying the Committee of the trip.
“So we feel that the government are playing with our intelligence because we have had similar experience in the past.
Naibi further noted that, this strike they planning to embark is in line with National directives.
His words,” You recall that the NLC met sometime in Port Harcourt to review the situation in the country concerning the minimum wage particularly in the state government and they directed that should any state government fail to implement the minimum wage up to the 30th of this month,all the state affiliate should embark strike on the 1st of December.
