Renowned Benue-born comedian, Albert Ijuo, popularly known as DrLaff, has received clearance from Guinness World Records to attempt the longest stand-up comedy show by an individual.

This esteemed record is currently held by American comedian David Scott, aka “The Midnight Swinger,” with a staggering 40 hours and 8 minutes.

To break this record, DrLaff aims to perform for 50 hours over two days, making him the first African comedian to attempt this feat. If successful, he will join the esteemed ranks of Guinness World Record holders.

DrLaff, also the founder of the International Sons and Divas Awards (ISADA), revealed that the event will take place in Lagos, Nigeria, in collaboration with prominent brands and celebrities as sponsors and partners.

Driven by a noble cause, DrLaff emphasised that his motivation extends beyond fame. He seeks to raise $1 million to establish Talent City Naija (TCN), a hub for young Nigerian talents to showcase their skills.

“The reason for this attempt is not just for fame, but to create a platform for young talents,” DrLaff explained.

“Talent City Naija will provide a conducive environment for skilled young Nigerians to live, work, and earn a living together.”

The founder of Laff International explained further that the funds raised from this marathon comedy show will cater to the needs of these talented individuals, empowering them to realize their full potential.

“Everything required for these talented folks to unlock their potential will be made available,” DrLaff assured.
