The Chairman of Jos North Local Government Area, J. K. Chris, has stated that the council will investigate the fire incident that destroyed no fewer than 107 shops at the timber market situated in Katako community, Jos North Local Government Area. According to him, the fire was restricted by the help of the Federal Fire Service and other emergency responders, as no one can say what caused the fire but are still investigating the incident. Also, it was revealed that the fire started on Sunday night and had destroyed several goods worth millions of naira including over 107 shops within the area. Christopher Musa, has called for the integration of military strategies with diplomatic efforts, community engagements and good governance as ways to address security challenges in the country. H|e made the call at the opening of the International Security Management Course, ISMC-5, organised by the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs, NIIA, held in Abuja on Monday, The course was organised by the Peace Building Development Consult (PBDC) in collaboration with the ECOWAS Commission with the theme, “Emerging Security and Economic Issues in the ECOWAS Sub-region.” Represented by the CDS was the Deputy Director of Peacekeeping Operations, Defense Headquarters, Brig.-Gen. Raymond Utsaha. A 21-year-old security guard, Collins Ibrahim, has been sentenced to Nine months in a correctional facility in Plateau State on Monday, November 18, 2024, for stealing the sum of N42,300. According to The Magistrate, Shawomi Bokkos, who tried and convicted the accused after he pleaded guilty to the charges brought against him said that the convict was ordered to make restitution of the N45,000 stolen to the complainant, or otherwise would spend an additional six months in the correctional facility. While delivering the judgment, the convict was sentenced to three months in jail, with an option of N10,000 fine While speaking, the Prosecutor, Insp Ijuptil Thiawur, told the court that the case was reported on Aug.16 at the “A” Division Police station by Enoch Mangchin, the complainant.
