Ilorin’s NSCDC Busts a Bogus Soldier

“Ajibola was accused of posing as a soldier and defrauding Ropo Gabriel and Abdullahi Saheed of a combined N700,000 and N96,000.”

Abdulsalam Ajibola, 42, was detained by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Kwara Command, for allegedly impersonating a soldier to swindle some members of the public of money.

This is stated in a statement provided to newsmen in Ilorin on Monday by the command’s PR officer, Olasunkanmi Ayeni.

According to Mr. Ayeni, the suspect was tracked down to Oke-Onigbin in the Kwara county’s Isin Local Government Area, where he was detained on March 24.

“Ajibola was accused of posing as a soldier and defrauding Ropo Gabriel and Abdullahi Saheed of a combined N700,000 and N96,000.”

He assured them that he would assist in their entrance to the Nigeria Defense Academy.

The suspect is also accused of tricking one Prophet Samuel Olugbemiga into converting his Toyota Picnic into a commercial vehicle on the pretense of helping him drive it, according to the command’s spokesman.

According to Mr. Ayeni, Ajibola then fled with the car after obtaining it.

Yet according to the NSCDC official, after the inquiry was over, the suspect will be soon be charged in court.
