Owukpa: Villagers from Benue who had been kidnapped are now free.

The villagers were ambushed on the Atamka-Ugbugbu road as they were returning from the Aho-Ogbo local market on Sunday evening.

The eight villagers who were kidnapped by armed men on Sunday in Owukpa, Ogbadibo Local Government Area of Benue State, have all been freed.

Each victim had been given a ransom demand of N500,000 by the criminal groups. Due to his health issues, one of the abductees, John Ameh, was released on Tuesday.

Nevertheless, Agada Ikwuta, the father of one of the victims, told our correspondent on Wednesday that all the kidnapped people had been freed after an N400,000 ransom was paid.

He claims that the victims’ relatives have since been reunited with them.
