Kogi Guber: INEC lists candidates for governor and their running mates.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has approved a total of 18 contenders for the Kogi State governorship election scheduled for November 11, 2023, who are vying to succeed the current Governor Yahaya Bello in January 2024.

In documents displayed by INEC at the state headquarters in Lokoja over the weekend for objections, claims, and counterclaims as well as to set the record straight in the case of parallel congresses held during the party primaries in the state, the list of candidates from the various political parties was included.

Ododo Ahmed Usman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Dino Melaye of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Leke Abejide of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Olayinka Braimoh of the Action Alliance, and Okeme Adejoh of the Labour Party are among those whose names were published by the INEC.

The list of the candidates’ running mates was also presented along with the governorship candidate. 

Jimoh Francis Ayo and Ahmed Ibrahim are the candidates for governor for the Accord party. The governorship candidate for AA is Braimoh Olayinka Gideon, and his running mate is Ogwu Simeon Ojone.

 Abel Yaba Emmanuel and Abu Moses Felix, who are both members of AAC, are running for governor and vice governor, respectively.

On Sunday, Frank Onoja will lead the APP, and Kekere Rahamaat will serve as his running mate. 

For the ruling APC, Ododo Ahmed Usman is the governorship candidate while Suleiman Abubarka will serve as his deputy.

Dauda Utenwojo is the candidate for APM, and Ologe John Kola is his running mate.

APGA will run Arkigofa Musa Abdulazeez for governor and Nweke Benjamin Ikechukwu for deputy governor, respectively.

A joint ADP ticket will be flown by Julius Elupo and Mohammed Yahaya.

ADC will field Leke Joseph Abejide and Dauda Usman, while Boot Party has Mohammed Kabir Umar and Eleojo Usman.

Okeme Adejoh, a member of the Labour Party, is running for governor, and Ocheja Edegbo is his running mate.

Sirius Bala Abdulgafar and Onoja Ernest Braiwere are the candidates for NRM.

 Abdullahi Bayawo and Sunday Davis Ozomata will also compete for PRP.

Omale Samson Agada is running for governor on behalf of the YPP, and Suleiman Abubarka is his running mate.

Suleiman Taiye Fatimah and Oluwole Mathew will both fly their tickets for the ZLP together. 

The list also shows that Musa Salihu Mubarak and Tanimu Idris will contest for NNPP while SPD will field Jimoh Sheik Ibrahim with Ajodo Damian Mondy as his deputy.

 Senator Melaye Daniel Dino will run jointly with Mohammed Deen Habibaton on the platform of the PDP.

However, sources indicated that the list was provisional and could change or be replaced before the end of June.
