Ombugadu Says He Has No Plan to Dethrone Traditional Leaders in Nasarawa

Omeri clarified that Dr. Ombugadu had no hidden agenda to take actions against traditional rulers based on their religious background

David Ombugadu, the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has refuted reports claiming that he had intentions to remove certain traditional rulers in Nasarawa State. These reports, which emerged in some media outlets, alleged that Ombugadu, declared the winner by the election tribunal on October 2nd, had plans to dethrone specific emirs in the state upon taking office.

Mike Omeri, the Director of Media and Publicity for David Ombugadu Campaign Organization, issued a statement to deny these reports. Omeri clarified that Dr. Ombugadu had no hidden agenda to take actions against traditional rulers based on their religious background. He also dismissed claims that discussions about such dethronements had occurred during a meeting at the residence of one of their leaders in Abuja.

“Dr. Ombugadu harbours no ulterior motive to replace some Muslim traditional rulers with Christians when he eventually takes up the reins of government.

“The claims in the media report that such a sinister plot was hatched at a meeting in the residence of one of our leaders in Abuja is the figment of the warped imagination of the purveyors of this fake news.

“For the record, Dr. Ombugadu has consistently demonstrated a deep respect for the traditional institutions in Nasarawa State and recognizes their vital role in preserving the culture and heritage of the people. He values the contributions of traditional rulers to the development and stability of the state”. The statement reads.

Omeri urged the media to exercise diligence in verifying the accuracy of their stories from credible sources before publishing, emphasizing the importance of responsible journalism and avoiding the spread of potentially damaging information.

Furthermore, Omeri stressed that Ombugadu has consistently shown deep respect for the traditional institutions in Nasarawa State, recognizing their significant role in preserving the culture and heritage of the people. Ombugadu values the contributions of traditional rulers to the development and stability of the state.

He concluded by reaffirming Ombugadu’s commitment to working for the betterment of Nasarawa State, upholding the rule of law, and fostering cooperation among all stakeholders, including traditional leaders. The campaign organization looks forward to a productive and positive relationship with all segments of the state as they strive for a brighter future.
